My TI-89 Connectivity to PC

I bought my TI-89 calculator back in 2001. Then Windows 98 and PCs with RS232 interfaces on COM ports were very common. These days, Windows 7 and USB are the de facto of home computing (and I must say, Mac OS X too). The RS232 interfaces seem to have died and the only way to get yourself one is by a COM to USB converter which comes with a driver and is a hassle to operate (well, you need to run HyperTerm which does not exist for Windows 7 any more and short pins 2 and 3 to get a loopback connection and see that whatever you type in the HyperTerm gets echoed back).

Any way, after the hassle of operating the cable, none of the TI CALC or TI Link software from TI seems to work. I thought of buying a Silver USB cable and used TI Connect, it worked.

I stumbled upon a software called TiLP under the great TI Calc.org website (the link is here). This seems to work well on Windows XP, but suffered in Windows 7 due to the well-known Unsigned Drivers problem.
