However, there is one way that seems to work:
Spend a long long long time working with someone high in the hierarchy. If he likes you so much, you will probably get a promotion. A friend of mine got promoted to a Director of almost 5 years of hard work in addition to 10 years (total of 15) of experience in the same company.
Other ways, such as threatening to leave your current group seems to work well, but that will burn your bridges. I do not recommend that!
